Get The Look - Kim Kardashian @ The Oscars

Thursday, 6 March 2014

Kim Kardashian has done it again at this weekends Oscar's after party. She never fails to pull off the most beautifully flawless makeup that normal people like me and you can only ever dream of. Although unlike Kim we don't have a makeup team following us 24/7, we can still attempt to recreate her look at home. Here I've selected both high end and more affordable products to help achieve this classic Kardashian contoured look with a beautiful velvet red lip...

All Kardashian makeup looks tend to start with a good foundation. Kim always opts for a full coverage finish, and who can blame her as she is being constantly photographed! This is why it is also essential for Kim to wear a foundation which does not contain SPF as otherwise the foundation would not photograph well due to light reflecting particles which as often picked up by flash in foundations with SPF. Long wear foundations are also ideal in order to ensure her makeup stays flawless throughout the whole night at events such as the Oscar After Party.
High End Option - Make Up Forever HD Foundation (£30.95)
Drugstore Option - Revlon Colourstay 24hr Foundation (£12.49)

Continuing with skin, it would not be a Kim Kardashian makeup look without a deep contour along the cheekbones, on the temples and along the sides of the nose. This allows you to achieve a lovely bronzed look, whilst also creating the illusion of a slimmer looking face. Kim always pulls this off wonderfully and has now made the word 'contouring' a known technique rather than a scary too professional term! Cream products are ideal to ensure the contour is blended seamlessly and looks as natural as possible.

High End Option - Nars Matte Multiple in Altai (£32.50)
Drugstore Option - Maybelline Fit Me Stick in Toffee (£8.99)

So far the skin has been quite matte, yet with a satin finish due to the use of the cream products. To stick to this finish it is best to opt for a cream highlighter rather than a powder one in order to continue the seamless, blended and more natural look. Kim is most often seen with highlighter on her cheekbones, but also on the bridge of her nose and on her cupids bow. This allows you to look glowing yet avoids looking shiny or greasy.
High End Option - Benefits Watts Up Cream Highlighter (£24.50)
Drugstore Option - Wake Me Up Instant Radiance in 004 Sand (£4.99)

Moving onto lips. If you are looking for a classic Kim K lip this is not the one! Kim has notoriously always rocked a very nude lip until recently. It appears that since meeting her hubby-to-be Kayne she is looking towards a more bold look, however is staying away for too much shine and opting for a more velvet-matte look - which I love!

High End Option - Giorgio Armani Mip Maestro in Colour 401 (£26.50)
Drugstore Option - Rimmel Apocolypse in Big Bang (£6.49)

As per usual, Kim has gone for huge lashes in this look, which look even more glamours paired with her red lip. An invisible band on the lashes makes them almost undetectable, paired with lashings of mascara on the lower lashes. These really make the eyes pop, balancing them with the strong lips. A really good lash adhesive is recommended as there is nothing worse than having one lash having off part way through the night!
Eye Lashes - Ardell Demi Whispies (£5.49)
Lash Glue - Duo Lash Adhesive (£6.90)

To finish, Kim has kept her eyes really simple with this look, understandably as to not overdo it with the lips. However she has got quite a heavy brow, required to frame the face as this is such a bold look she's got going on. The looks finished with a small flick of black liquid liner to conceal the lash line, as well as touch of highlighter in the corner of her eyes to really widen them and make them sparkle.
Brow Kit - Benefit Brow Zings (£23.50)
Liquid Liner - Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Liner (£5.29)

I personally love this glamours look on Kim, and will most definitely try and recreate it looks so classy yet fairly straightforward to achieve. Whats your favourite look of hers?!

Let me know! X
